MYTHS & MISCONCEPTIONS
Excuses from people who swear they want to try my class but never do...I hear it all!!
I think my favorite is, “I need to get in shape before I try your class.” Huh??
Look, I get it! It can be very intimidating walking into a dance fitness class for the first time.
You might feel like you have to prep beforehand. But you really don’t!
Does any of these negative thoughts sound familiar?
I won’t be able to keep up.
Everyone will look at me if I mess up.
I’ll embarrass myself.
I can’t dance.
I’m awkward.
I’ll be the only one who doesn’t know the routines.
I feel stupid, not sexy when I dance.
ALL LIES!!!
But here’s the TRUTH:
You go at your own pace! You don’t have to keep up with anyone! Furthermore, you can rest when you need to, grab water when you want, and nobody will say anything because it's expected!
Nobody’s looking at you, Sis!! Everybody is busy doing them! And there is no such thing as “messing” up. (Except for me, I mess up my routines all the time in the middle of teaching! I forget the whole 8 counts… it happens, so what!)
You do not have to be a “dancer” to enjoy & benefit from dance fitness. It’s more about the freedom of movement, not getting the steps just right. And we all move differently, and that’s perfectly fine! You don’t have to know & practice the routines before you come! (I think I hear this the most) Just come & keep coming! You’ll learn them quicker than you think! And once you learn a few & get used to the instructor’s teaching & cueing style, that’s when the confidence & sexy comes out without you even trying! (Back row baddies become front row DIVAS real quick) ---->
But consistency is key!!
My classes are always a judgment-free zone full of supportive people of different fitness levels with similar goals. We all want to burn calories, have fun, & pretend like we’re Beyoncé’s backup dancer for 60 minutes!
Just try it, you might get your life!!
